Hiedi is a home grown northerner from Hay River NT. She has spent her career working in northern communities such as Inuvik, Ft. Smith, Hay River, Yellowknife, and Grande Prairie, AB. She has a BA from the University of Alberta, After-degree Certificate in Advanced Mental Health from Mt. Royal University, and a Master of Counselling Psychology Degree from the University of Calgary. Hiedi has 15+yrs experience working in various counselling capacities in justice, education, and community mental health.
As a client-centred and strengths-based Psychologist Hiedi works with children, youth, adults, and couples to meet their therapy goals and needs. She works with clients in all areas of mental health and wellness including but not limited to: depression, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship conflict and separation, relationship break-down, building healthy relationships, unresolved anger, coping with stress, life transitions and adjustment, parenting issues, childhood and residential school trauma, identity development, self-growth, and clinical disorders.
Hiedi specializes in working with persons affected by trauma using (AEDP) Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy, (EMDR) Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, and of some aspects (CBT) Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. She is a Level II AEDP therapist, certified EMDR therapist, and Certified (EFT) Emotion Focussed Therapist (Individual and Couples). Hiedi seeks to empower client strengths and resilience, while identifying the adaptive tendencies (defenses) that have assisted clients to survive in their lives thus far – but may no longer be working for them today. Working collaboratively at a pace that fosters safety and transparency in the therapeutic relationship, Hiedi encourages growth, healing, and transformation with her clients.
